RECENT PROJECTS:
NOVEMBER 1 - 15, 2010

Once again, Haydens All Stars will hold it's fourth annual One Warm Coat drive for the 2010 holiday season. Haydens All Stars has collected and distributed 242 coats to Miracle Making Ministries for people in the Augusta Community since 2007. The 2009 coat drive was more successful then ever. Haydens All Stars are making a difference in their community and trying to warm Augusta one coat at a time.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. On November 7th, 2009 our Twisters set out on a group walk at the Augusta Riverwalk to raise funds and awareness of Juvenile Diabetes. This was to honor and support our own Junior Teal & Senior Purple cheerleader Jessi Chambers who was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes in January.

IT'S SPOOKY TO BE HUNGRY FOOD DRIVE
In October, Senior Teal sponsored “It’s Spooky to be Hungry” this year which is an independent, all-volunteer effort dedicated to helping fight hunger and strengthening our communities. Each year at Haydens we do a team challenge to see who can bring in the most food with the winning team getting a pizza party. This year “It’s Spooky to be Hungry” was able to provide over 310,000 meals to needy seniors, children, and families!

"Light the Night" Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. The Haydens Twisters walked in the Augusta Light the Night walk for Molly Johnson - a two-year old little girl who loves cheerleaders! On these special nights, thousands of participants carry illuminated balloons and raise funds for vital, lifesaving research and patient services. Funds raised through Light The Night Walk support the work of hundreds of the world's best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

2010 CELL PHONE FOR SOLDIERS DRIVE WILL BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER!
Cell Phones for Soldiers was started nationally as a way to show appreciation for the men and women who have sacrificed the day-to-day contact with their own families to serve in the U.S. armed forces. Haydens All Stars have collected and delivered over 185 pounds of used cell phone products to the cell phone reclycler, ReCellular. Thanks to Haydens All Stars, soldiers stationed overseas will receive 371 hours worth of pre-paid phone cards from the efforts of our used phone drives. Great Job Twisters!

In 2008, Youth Teal and Youth Purple squads teamed up to sponsor TOYS FOR TOTS. We collected new, unwrapped toys for distribution to needy children in the CSRA. This annual event is headed up by the US Marine Corps. For 2009, the Twisters will be teaming up with the Haydens Gymnasts to collect toys.
Molly's Militia
Molly’s Militia is a local animal rescue group. Molly’s Militia volunteers go to shelters and rescue dogs and cats that are about to be euthanized. The animals are taken home, nursed back to health and prepared to be adopted out to loving homes. If there are any medical issues with the animals, those are taken care of with local veterinarians. All pets are spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out. They are also micro-chipped. The volunteers also take animals out to local adoption “fairs” to show people the opportunities available in adopting a pet that was once unwanted.
